Attendance

Why attendance matters and what to do if your child is absent.

Attendance at The Lewis School

Good attendance is essential for academic progress. Research consistently shows that pupils with high attendance achieve better outcomes.

Reporting Absence

You can report your child's absence in one of two ways.

  • Message via the message facility on ClassCharts (Speech bubble).

  • Email the attendance team - tlsattendance@sch.caerphilly.gov.uk

If you need any information related to attendance please contact the attendance team.

Why Punctuality Matters

• Reduces Anxiety: Arriving on time helps children start the day calm and prepared instead of rushed or embarrassed.

• Protects Records: Arriving after the official register closes without a valid reason is marked as an unauthorised absence (U code), which negatively impacts overall attendance percentages.

• Builds Habits: Good timekeeping prepares students for future education and the workplace

#AttendtoAchieve

We ask families to aim for 97% or better. Missing one day every fortnight adds up to nineteen days a year — almost a whole month of learning. If your child needs to be away, then please get in touch using the methods stated.

Every Minute Counts

Even small delays in arrival disrupt a child's routine and cut into vital educational instruction.
