The governing body
The Governing Body is an integral part of the leadership and development of The Lewis School. Governors provide challenge, guidance and support to the school, working in partnership with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to promote high standards and secure the best possible outcomes for all pupils.
A key responsibility of governors is to provide strategic oversight and accountability. They consider the school’s priorities, evaluate its progress, oversee financial matters and ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place. Governors also have a duty to ensure that the school operates in accordance with its legal and statutory responsibilities.
The work of the Governing Body is carried out through regular meetings of the full governing body and a number of committees. These meetings provide opportunities to scrutinise the school’s performance, review its development priorities, consider financial and staffing matters, and monitor the wellbeing and safety of the whole school community.
